About Us
Boxer Rescue Southern (B.R.S.) is a charity which was formed in the early 1970's. It is of course with sadness that charities such as ours are required regardless. The only service B.R.S. provide the work of rehoming unwanted, abandoned, mis-treated and stray Boxer dogs, regardless of age or colour.
The work is undertaken by dedicated Boxer fanciers who understand both the breed and the type of person suitable to own it. The work is totally voluntary. Helpers for the many facets of the service's work are always required and welcomed. If you would like to know more or become part of the rescue team please click here.
It is important to note that the B.R.S. service is completely independant from any breed club.
The area that B.R.S. covers is a little indeterminable, as we receive calls from literally all over the British Isles. Those we cannot deal with are re-routed if possible to other Boxer Rescue units. Click here to view other Boxer Rescue units. We visit all prospective boxer owners, but due to funding we restrict our activities to Sussex, parts of Hampshire, Kent and Surrey. However, we have been known to go further afield when an emergency occurs.
Funds are of the utmost importance. No matter that we are a charity, it's a hard business world, and we have to find money to pay for transport, kennelling, veterinary fee's, telephone and postage. The need to act from a position of financial confince is obvious. A link for donations will provided soon.
B.R.S. works in happy co-ordination with the Police, Veterinary Surgeons and many other animal rescue organisations.
All homes and prospective owners are visited and checked for suitability. Dogs taken in are assessed for character and health and so far as it possible, all information such as age and history is obtained from the previous owner.
It is essential that the right dog or bitch is matched to the appropriate home and therefore we do not work on a chronological basis. THE DOG IS SUITED TO THE HOME, not the home suited to the dog.
Pedigrees are never, BUT NEVER, passed on.
B.R.S. insists that dogs are fully vaccinated before we take them. Where this is not possible, the service arranges for immediate vaccination. We do NOT supply dogs for breeding, all dogs are spayed or neutered as appropriate.
